The Hum of The Empty Workspaces

As the clock struck eight, I was the last person left. The silence was calming. It felt like the room was breathing. Alive.

As the clock struck eight, I realized I was the last person left in the office.

The chaos in the corridor had settled by then. The constant ringing of phones and the steady chatter in the hallway had faded away, leaving behind an unfamiliar silence.

I could hear the gentle hum of the air conditioner. It sounded like a toned down aircraft engine.

I was about to leave, but I thought I’ll stay a bit more to enjoy the silence.

I sat back in my chair, reclined, and closed my eyes. The silence was calming. It felt like the room was breathing. Alive.

The vast space may stand deserted at night, but when the sun rises, it will once again pulsate with life and purpose.

The calmness is nothing but a pause in the theater of work that unfolds in a workspace everyday.

How does a workspace calms itself after experiencing so much chaos each day! The thought made me jealous.

For a moment, the concept of becoming a non-living entity sounded tempting.

At about that exact time I got distracted when I got a notification on my phone. I also realized it was time to head home for dinner.

As I switched off the lights and closed the door behind me, I felt the space slip into slumber, resting up for the drama that awaits the next day.
