Set a day to pamper yourself
Every month I spend a day just for myself. Not about family or friends — just me. Loving your own company is much needed in today's world. Get yourself out there and have a day for yourself.
Every month I spend a day or two just for myself. That day is not about my family or friends. It is about me. I drive down to my favorite restaurant, get my order to go, park my car on a random street, listen to my favorite music and eat in my car. Or I sit at a less crowded café and write for a whole day.
Before I had my car, I used to go to Anna Nagar tower park on my bike or using public transport, spend time reading under a tree, or a park bench and then sleep a little.
It was a change from my routine. I loved spending time with myself. It cleared my mind, recharged my spirit, and gave me the energy to get back to the mundane things.
But, people are a little hesitant (and even afraid) when I ask them to spend some time alone. They hate doing things alone – like going to the movies, eating at a restaurant, or going on a trip. They think, “what would others think of me!”
Loving your company is much needed in today’s world. Everything we know has changed. The line between work and life vanished. Working from home has become overwhelming. I strongly believe that one should take care of themselves before taking care of others.
We’re often so busy caring about work, family, romantic relationships and so on, we miss taking care of ourselves.
Get yourself out there and have a day for yourself. Treat yourself to a favorite meal. Get a massage. Watch a movie. Book a hotel room and jump into the hot tub. Do anything. I guess after everything we’ve been through, we deserve some pampering.
